April 16, 2008
On April 16th, 2008., San Diego State University (SDSU) student Jennice Lodi was awarded a SANYO-funded scholarship to assist with her Japanese language studies in Japan. Professor Yoshiko Higurashi, director of SDSU's Japanese Language program, established the annual scholarship in 1983. This year marks their 25th anniversary in recognizing the outstanding achievements by local students majoring in the study of various aspects of the Japanese language.
The ceremony was held at SDSU campus near SANYO North America's San Diego Headquarters. It is our great pleasure and honor to support educational achievements," Alan Foster, a vice president of SANYO North America Corporation noted, "please use the scholarship for your valuable growth." Jennice will begin her studies at the Osaka University of the Arts in September 2008. In addition, she plans to create a documentary film on Japanese culture and hopes to make it available through the internet to students around the world interested in visiting Japan.
